Street cleansing

Sweeping and cleaning footways and highways
TOR2 carries out street cleansing operations using mechanical and manual teams, working seven days a week all year round. Torbay Council is one of our customers.

We will:
• Clean town centres daily
• Remove accumulations of rubbish from land owned by our customers
• Collect litter from public streets
• Empty litter bins
• Support communities with locally organised clean-up events

You can help us by:
• Placing litter in bins and disposing of chewing gum in an appropriate way
• Using a local household waste recycling centre (HWRC) to dispose of unwanted items
• Having a proper commercial waste collection contract for your business
• Removing your dog's mess and not leaving it for others
• Not 'fly posting'

Litter and dog bins
Litter in a public place is unsightly, can be a danger to animals and above all makes an area unattractive to visitors. Littering is also an offence. The average fine for littering is around £95, but can be up to £2,500. Dog mess is also unsightly and a health hazard.

Litter ranges in size from a single sweet wrapper to a bag full of rubbish. The Environmental Protection Act of 1990 states that if a person drops, throws, deposits, or leaves anything that causes defacement in a public place, they are commiting a littering offence. That's why you should always either use a litter bin or take your rubbish home.

Dead animals
Our street cleansing services include the removal and disposal of dead animals from the highway.

Chewing gum removal
TOR2 can undertake programmes of works to remove chewing gum from most areas and types of surfaces.
