Questions on collection dates and times
Can I go online to find my collection day?
Yes, collection day information is available on the
TOR2 website. There is a link to a round look up document which lists collection days and type of collection by street and house number. Once you know your collection day and type of collection you can choose and download the correct collection calendar for you. Very soon the same website will include a look-up facility where customers can look up a particular collection day by entering the post code of the property in question.
Why do the recycling collection rounds take longer than before?
Unfortunately, the new procedures for collections and on street sorting of recycling take a little longer than previously and in some cases residents are putting non-recyclable materials in the recycling containers which takes time to sort out. Please make sure you read your leaflet and know what can be put in your recycling containers and bear with us. As recycling crews become more used to the new collection system, this will improve and delays will reduce.
Why is my rubbish collected fortnightly?
Through the improvements introduced by TOR2 it is possible to recycle up to 85% of you waste, therefore there should be much less put into your residual (non-recyclable) waste bin, as a result we have increased the recycling collection frequency to weekly and your residual (non-recyclable) waste can still be collected fortnightly. By emptying your wheeled bins on alternate weeks it also keeps down the cost of the collection service. If we provided a collection of non-recyclable residual waste every week we would have to purchase extra collection vehicles and take on extra staff, which would mean significant increases in your Council Tax bill.
